Personal profile

Summary

After completing a BSc in Biological Sciences from University of Portsmouth I gained experience in industry, environmental consultancy and the Environment Agency developing a broad knowledge of the aquatic environment, the pollution pressures it faces from human activities, mitigation and solutions, with a particular focus on ecotoxicology.   I also have extensive laboratory management experience having overseen the development of a UKAS accredited lab for the Environment Agency.

Later I gained funding to complete a PhD with the University of Southampton to determine the sustainable use of water to mitigate the impact of watercress farming on chalk streams in Southern England.

I joined the University of Portsmouth in 2019 to work with the Environmental Technology Group and the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying.  I work with a variety of research projects mainly focused on providing engineering solutions to resolve pollution issues.  I have further developed in-house analysis techniques to include elemental analysis (XRD, XRF, ICP-OES, SEM).
