Having obtained a BEng in Automation Engineering from the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece, I completed an MSc with Distinction in Engineering Control Systems and Instrumentation from the University of Huddersfield, then a fully-funded PhD in partnership with Renishaw plc from the same institution. For the latter, I was also awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Initiative Fee Waiver Scholarship. My PhD research focused on evaluating the measuring performance of parallel kinematic machine-based flexible gauges in terms of their measuring principle, build-geometry and response to process variations. I have therefore been deeply involved in the modelling of uncertainty associated with comparative coordinate measurement. I worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering (ACSE) at the University of Sheffield from 2017 until 2021. My postdoctoral research in ACSE focused on advanced metrology and machine learning for the monitoring and control of conventional multistage manufacturing processes. This research was carried out as part of the EPSRC Future Advanced Metrology Hub and in collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). In 2021, I continued my postdoctoral research as a Research Fellow at Cranfield University, in the Welding Engineering and Laser Processing Centre, where I worked on Artificial Intelligence (AI) monitoring and control models for non-conventional manufacturing processes, such as laser welding. This research was carried out as part of the EPSRC Project "Lasers that Learn: AI-enabled intelligent materials processing" and in collaboration with the Optoelectronics Research Centre of the University of Southampton. In February 2022, I was appointed Lecturer in the School of Mechanical and Design Engineering at the University of Portsmouth. My teaching activities include undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the areas of control systems and AI. My research interests belong to the broad areas of manufacturing informatics, intelligent manufacturing, control systems, machine learning, machining process monitoring, and coordinate metrology.
