Summary

Biography

I am a Lecturer in Politics at the University of Portsmouth and I also serve as the Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions and Outreach lead of the Politics / International Relations / International Development team.

Research Interests

My primary research interests lie in the institutions of the European Union; national parliaments; the use of expertise in policy-making and the effect of (self-)perceptions on people’s attitudes and behaviour.

I serve as the co-chair of the University of Portsmouth’s Transnational Politics and Society Research Group with Dr. Nora Siklodi (11/2023-).

During the first half of 2019, I held a Visiting Scholar position within the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS). During this time, I conducted data collection for my PhD from the University of Portsmouth. My doctoral thesis examined the way parliaments can strengthen their policy-making capabilities by developing unbiased in-house scientific expertise to support individual parliamentarians. The project is a single case study of the European Parliament, which has reformed its internal expertise-related support provisions under the umbrella of the European Parliamentary Research Service.
