Rebecca Penty

Currently, I am undertaking my Professional Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology (2021-) at the University of Portsmouth.

I have experience lecturing at undergraduate and masters level within the discipline of Sport and Exercise Psychology and Psychology

I have worked and continue to work with individual athletes spanning a range of sports, ages, levels.

Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I previously completed a MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology (2020-2021) and MSc in Psychology both at the University of Sheffield. 

Before this I worked for Sport England as a project manager.

My research interests are two fold. Firstly I have a focus on the wellbeing of sport coaches in particular within the sport of athletics. Secondly I am interested in the role which coaches can play in facilitating endurance athletes ability to effectively self regulate, so that they are able to improve their performance, wellbeing and enjoyment of their sport.  

I am currently employed by the Premier League as a research assistant in their coaching department.
