Biography
Roberto Braglia is Principal Lecturer and BA(Hons) Architecture Course Leader at the University of Portsmouth. As School of Architecture Academic Lead for Global Engagement he is promoting the School International agenda. He is involved in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate design studios and he coordinates a range of modules in the School.
Roberto completed his Master Degree in Building Engineering and Architecture at the University of Pavia, Italy in 2008. His experience in practice has engaged with a number of architectural firms for a variety of projects, ranging from private homes, housing schemes, commercial projects and masterplans proposals. In 2009-11 he collaborated with the Parma City Council Agency for Urban Quality, and led urban renovation projects.
He joined the University of Portsmouth in 2012 as Senior Practice Fellow working for the Project Office, the School of Architecture architectural practice and became lecturer in 2013.
Roberto’s research focuses on pedagogy and is informed by engaging with the School L&T group. He contributes and leads a number of initiatives in the School. In 2018, he presented a paper on key pedagogic tools at the PSoA International ‘Research by Design’ Symposium; he recently published an article on the ‘AND’ International magazine and he is currently co-leading a research on ‘Teamwork Strategies for First Year Curriculum’.
He is Architect (ARB) in the UK and Building Engineer in Italy with professional experience in teaching and working in architectural practices in Europe. He practices and collaborates with the Project Office, a RIBA practice under the umbrella of the School of Architecture.
