I have more than 20 years of experience working as an applied economist in the Economics and Finance Subject Group. I have participated and taken the lead in many research, knowledge transfer/consultancy projects (defence manpower, local and regional economies, banking efficiency, profitability and productivity etc). These projects have involved the local and regional institutions and focused on the economic development, job creation and new investment issues in the area.
My research interests include applied econometrics, manpower issues, duration analysis, choice modelling and technical and economic efficiency. Gained extensive research experience as a research economist for seven years on naval manpower issues and also has wide experience of managing and working on a number of externally funded multidiscplinary research projects. Successfully managed three MOD (Royal Navy Manpower Issues) projects and was the author of the Naval Manpower Econometric Model (known as "Portsmouth Model"). I have also produced tri-service manpower forecasting models for the MoD, also manpower models using primary individual level administrative naval manpower data to predict future skills gaps in the Navy.
