My main duty in this role was recruitment and marketing in relation to a Government project. BAL was one of the first schools to become part of the business schools delivering Help to Grow Management course. This is delivered in collaboration with CABS and the Department of Business and Trade (UK Government). It's 90% funded by the Government and participants pay only 10% of the fees which is around £750.  My role was mainly focused on recruiting local SMEs for the course. I was managing a budget of £ 35,000 released from the Government for this project. I ran marketing campaigns, organised events, press releases, content creation, and direct marketing, and worked with local councils and chambers of commerce to raise awareness. I established some good marketing practices which were able to bring more participants and subsequently bring some money to the Faculty. Some of my duties are outlined below: 

  • Planning of day-to-day delivery of the Business Support Programmes marketing campaigns 
  • Attending business exhibitions across the country 
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver marketing plans consistent with the strategic objectives of the Business Support Programmes Office 
  • Project Management – implementation and execution of day-to-day management on brand multi-channel sales campaigns that include social and digital
  • Managing social media channels such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook
  • Working collaboratively with the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy department of the Government and the Chartered Association of Business Schools on the Help to Grow Management project 
  • Liaising with local business hubs and Chamber of Commerce to promote Help to Grow

Alongside my full-time job I was part-time teaching marketing. 

  • Delivering seminar sessions in Marketing Communications, Digital Content Creation, and Marketing Principles and Practice to first and second-year marketing students
  • Providing pastoral support to students 
  • Contributing to the delivery of module-related administrative tasks, including assessment and examination boards and preparation of seminar materials.

September 2016 - July 2019 University of Portsmouth MA Digital Marketing - part-time (Distinction)

Alongside my full-time job, I was studying part-time. This programme explored areas of marketing such as digital communication and media development, contemporary issues in marketing, and social media strategies. The knowledge gained from the modules has been applied by producing reports on topics such as disruptive innovation, marketing analysis to design a marketing plan, the role and importance of the surroundings in contemporary organisations, designing websites, and running social media campaigns for small to medium-sized companies.

Providing pastoral support to international students and supporting and safeguarding vulnerable students in crisis. Planning and delivering projects around international student cohesion on campus. Participating on committees for curriculum development, enhancing the student experience, mentoring students and delivering workshops. Collaborating with colleagues across the University on projects. 

Improving the social media channels within the Business school by implementing communication channels and influencing the development of new policies.
