Biography

As the Associate Dean (Students) within the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries, I am interested in education innovation, especially at the intersection between technology, learning methodologies, and assessment strategies. My previous scholarly contributions have advanced the understanding and application of simulations, with a keen focus on games-based simulations, to foster authentic learning environments. Additionally, my exploration into games-based learning has yielded valuable insights into its efficacy and application.

Currently, my research is centred around Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and its potential to transform education. This exploration, which constitutes the foundation of my ongoing Doctorate in Education (EdD), anticipated to be concluded by 2026, aims to critically assess the capabilities of publicly accessible generative AI models, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), against traditional human academic benchmarks in the context of student assessment, grading, and feedback mechanisms. This study seeks to delineate the comparative effectiveness of AI and human faculties in educational assessment and pave the way for innovative pedagogical tools that could redefine teaching and learning paradigms.
