Personal profile

Biography

I am currently the Head of School of Civil Engineering and Surveying.  I joined the University of Portsmouth in 2010 as a lecturer after working as a researcher in cement chemistry and concrete technology for 11 years at the Universities of Aberdeen and Liverpool. Prior to that I studied Physics at the University of Nottingham and did my PhD at Staffordshire University. My main area of research currently is in fibre reinforced concrete. This work includes investigation of the blast and impact resistance of ultra high performance fibre reinforced concrete as well as research into the effects of distribution of fibres on the performance of fibre reinforced concrete. I also have research interests in durability issues affecting concrete.
