Summary

Stuart Sims is a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education in the Academic Development team at the University of Portsmouth. He currently leads Portsmouth Co-Create, an initiative to embed staff-student co-creation of the curriculum cross-institutionally. Stuart teaches on Portsmouth's Academic Professional Apprenticeship and PgCert in Higher Education, leading the unit ‘Research Informed Teaching’

Prior to this, Stuart held academic development and leadership roles at the University of Winchester relating to student engagement. Achievements include co-developing Winchester’s Learning & Strategy 2018-2021 and running the sector-leading partnership initiative ‘the Student Fellows Scheme’. He also taught on Winchester’s MA in Learning and Teaching. Stuart was part of the leadership of the HEFCE funded ‘REACT project’ which advanced the development of Student Engagement practices across the UK.

He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and completed a doctorate at Cardiff University exploring the relationship between pedagogy, student experience and the labour market.
