Personal profile


I joined the University of Portsmouth as a senior lecturer of Accounting and Financial Management in June 2017. I completed my PhD in Accounting and Finance at Durham University in 2009. Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I held the post of Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University – UAE, The British University in Egypt (BUE) and Mansoura University, Egypt. I taught several accounting modules on postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in the UK, UAE and Egypt. I have been a visiting lecturer at Sunderland Business School and a part-time lecturer at Durham Business School, UK. I was the director of the E-Learning Unit at Faculty of Commerce, Mansoura University, Egypt.

I have extensive practical experience in training and consultancy in the field of accounting and auditing. I designed and delivered Professional training courses and consultations for private and governmental organizations in the MENA region. I'm a member of the advisory committee of TUV SUD PSB – Singapore for Management Systems and Product Certification (ACMP). I have presented my papers at international research conferences and published some papers in international refereed journals. Currently, I am the editor of International Journal of Excellence in Islamic Banking and Finance.
