Personal profile
Biography
I am an architect and a senior lecturer at Portsmouth School of Architecture, Art and Design. I am also a proud graduate of the School myself having completed both my Undergraduate and MArch here.
Prior to joining the team as an academic, I worked with Dannatt Johnson Architects to oversee various refurbishment and conservation projects of existing and heritage buildings predominantly in the public sector.
I have worked on the new Members Room facility of the Natural History Museum in London which was shortlisted in the AJ Retrofit Awards for Listed Building of the Year. I also worked on the Second World War and Holocaust galleries of Imperial War Museum, London which received the prestigious Museums + Heritage Permanent Exhibition of the Year Award.
I have recently been appointed to be a trustee of Wymering Manor where I am supporting the preservation of architectural heritage and strategising about the future of the Manor.
Teaching Responsibilities
I am a Module Coordinator for Technology and Environment at BA3/DA4 level and Design & Professional Practice at DA2 level. My other roles and responsibilities include Design Tutoring, Dissertation supervision, and support of admissions and recruitment of new students and degree apprentices.
Research Interests
Alongside my experience in practice, I have developed a strong passion for exploring methods of waste reduction and sustainable repurposing of construction waste and by-product materials. My research interests lie in exploring solutions in all aspects of the problem - influence of design and construction practices, law and legislation, longevity of materials, reusability, and reclamation.
I am interested in testing how my research can be applied in professional practice and in academic teaching as well.
Research Interests
Another research interest of mine lies in pedagogy, and more specifically in Authentic and High Impact Assessments. I apply research into my academic practice to improve the quality of teaching. My pedagogical rationale is shaped by Active Blended Learning, Constructivist approach and empowering students to be curious, learn through practice and exercise their agency to shape their learning and career path.
