Description

Awarded Distinction (90%) and the Hill Dickinson Prize for Best LLM Dissertation in Construction Law & Practice for my dissertation titled, "The Building Safety Act 2022: Evaluating the implications on defect claims".

This research utilises a combination of doctrinal and socio-legal research methods, including collection of empirical data via online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, to evaluate the implications of the new and extended causes of action for residential defect claims introduced by the Building Safety Act 2022 on industry. It also investigates the implications of the associated extension to prospective and retrospective limitation periods applicable to these claims and the introduction of a new remedy, building liability orders, that effectively enables the court to extend liability beyond the entity involved in the original build and through to its associated entities.
