This project aligns to the strategic area ‘Culture and Heritage’. The programme of work that I would undertake as a fellow sets out to use digital tools to communicate historical research to a wide audience beyond academia. It would aim to use developments in the sciences and technology, particularly mapping and other visualisation techniques, to communicate key historical information and develop creative and accessible content to engage with broad audiences. Over the past three years I have been researching the history of student activism and have identified a number of archival sources that are in need of preservation and have been under-utilised by scholars. My aim would be to develop the requisite skills and networks to be able to develop projects to safeguard these materials and tools to communicate their content and importance to a general audience.
