An Ear to the Sky: Intuitive Exploration & Discovery in Astronomical Data using Sonification

A project focussing on innovating “sonification” techniques, the presentation of data using non-verbal audio. This project revolves around the development of the free and open-source STRAUSS code, providing analysts with the data they need to sonify their own data. We will collaborate with scientists, artists and educators to provide sonification to enhance scientific understanding across a broad range of levels, from school education, to professional research tools.
