Project Details
Description
Black henbane (Hyoscyamus niger) is a plant in family Solanaceae which is currently in decline in Britain, likely due to changes in land management. In this project, we will a) produce genomic resources for black henbane, of value regarding its known and yet untapped untapped medicinal properties b) use genomic tools to better understand its population dynamics in Britain.
Layperson's description
Plants have been recognised throughout human history for their diverse medicinal properties, yet the population biology of many of these is poorly known. Here, we will use a multi-disciplinary approach to describe the population of a locally threatened plant which has been associated with humans for millennia.
