Description

Leading on a new initiative to support parent learners with the faculty.

Parent learners in higher education face unique challenges that can hinder their academic success. Balancing educational pursuits with parenting responsibilities often leads to increased stress, time management difficulties, financial strain and isolation. This project provides a comprehensive support program designed to address these issues through parent learner and their stakeholders, enhancing the educational outcomes for parent learners within BaL, bridging awarding gaps and increasing retention.
The primary objective of this support program is to provide awareness of targeted resources and services (from our University and External) to parent learners that will:

1. Establish a community network and mentoring programs

2. Create flexible learning options and academic support services

3. Facilitate access to child-care support from UOP and Local services inclusive of mental health and safety.

4. Awareness of financial assistance and scholarships specifically for parent learners.

This was facilated by an Information hub and Monthly meetings.
