Project Details
Description
An ongoing research project using photographic practice as a means to explore personal family stories (commonly and repeatedly conveyed by my Mother as I was growing up) and in particular that of my own conception. The project involves the documentation of performative re-enactment as well as the appropriation of historic photographs and artefacts. The aim is to explore the role of chance within lived experience and how this becomes rationalised through cultural, societal and familial narratives. The title Boccaccio refers to a film (Boccaccio'70) that my parent went to see on the night of my conception.
Layperson's description
Re living the story of my own conception (as told by my parents) and conveying this through performance and photography. The project is ongoing.
