Correlating X-ray photon energy with mass attenuation coefficient for relevant elements found in the NHM collection to provide spatial chemical mapping in 3D.
Layperson's description
X-ray CT is a tool for assessing microscopic structures, but with knowledge of how X-ray photons interact with certain materials, the different levels of grey in a CT scan can be associated with specific chemical elements.
