Creating and comprehending the circuitry of life: precise biomolecular design of multi-centre redox enzymes for a synthetic metabolism

Project Details

Description

The project focuses on realising a step change in the engineering and analysis of de novo designed oxidoreductases by building on the protein design and analytical expertise across the collaborating institutions. We propose the construction of multicofactor de novo designed proteins engineered for catalysis and electron (energy) transport, and their analysis using femtosecond spectroscopy and molecular dynamics. Central to this work is the creation of a collaborative VR protein design environment, where engineers can initiate, investigate, and share designs.
