Project Details
Description
Given their long lives, close social bonds and large group sizes, and long periods of juvenile dependency, we can expect that culture is an important part of elephant life, just as it is for humans, great apes, and various other animals. Yet, the data for 'elephant culture' is currently very limited and unclear. This work aims to increase our understanding of if, how, and when cultural transmission of knowledge is of importance to elephants.
