This HEIF-funded project (£27,700) aimed to celebrate the Dickens 2012 bicentenary by focusing on research that would promote the relationship between Dickens and Portsmouth. It produced a website and a non-academic booklet aimed at the general public.
This project celebrated the Dickens bicentenary and focused on the writer's birth in Portsmouth. Our research highlighted Dickens's ongoing relationship with Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight in his novels and non-fiction, and explored the parallels between Portsmouth and London in his works.
