Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to develop solutions for efficient streaming of digital high definition audio/video content over Internet protocol networks.
The work involves the design and development of a prototype audio/video streaming platform using off-the-shelf components and PC emulation. This platform will be used to assess existing technologies for audio/video compression and multimedia streaming to inform the future product development.
The project is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University and Smart-e Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of video and audio distribution systems for the commercial, residential, marine, education and leisure industries. The company has pioneered the technology of transmitting high quality video and audio signals over standard Cat 5 cable and leads the market for innovative and technically advanced products.
