Description
Emerging scholarship on the role of British business in China, (Bickers, 2020) has highlighted the need for
further investigation into the role of British maritime industry in creating and understanding the modern world.
The project will set agendas for new scholarship and knowledge exchange by building a network of scholars,
producing original research, and disseminating the findings via academic and public engagement outputs.
Funding is sought for:
• A Postgraduate workshop.
• A funded PhD scholarship (fees, bursary and research allowance).
• An international maritime culture and heritage conference with a budget for travel bursaries to widen
accessibility.
