Project Details
Description
The aim of this project is to increase recycling rates in the Mountain View area of KwaMhalanga. Waste Aid and the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land And Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) will be testing interventions to promote better separation, decontamination and collection of recyclables including low value plastics at community level. In order to raise awareness in the community we will work with creatives from Mountain View and design a range of creative communication materials to raise awareness of the project, promote the Waste Aid interventions, and educate the community about how to recycle and why it’s important to recycle. We will also raise awareness of some of the negative impacts of plastic pollution on health and environment. The project will aim to maximise community participation and increase recycling rates using culturally and socially relevant communication tools such as music, theatre and art.
