Novel Solar Window to produce Power and Space Heating

    Project Details

    Description

Solar photovoltaics (PV) cells convert only a fraction of the incident solar radiation into electricity. A major fraction gets converted into heat and raises the temperature of the cells. The waste heat can be extracted by attaching small water pipes behind the PV cells. The hot water can be circulated through the radiators for space heating.

    Layperson's description

Around 70% of the solar radiation falling on the solar photovoltaics (PV) cells becomes heat. The heat can be extracted by attaching small water pipes behind the PV cells. The hot water can be circulated through the radiators for space heating.
