SafeFit Trial: virtual clinics to deliver a multimodal intervention to improve psychological and physical well-being in people with cancer

Description

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic a face to face intervention trial was pivoted into a virtual clinic to provide exercise, nutrition and emotional support to people affected by cancer. The trial has completed its follow-up period and data analysis is about to commence, having created £917,000 of excess treatment costs for UHS R&D.

Key findings

Key findings include efficacy and safety, cost-benefit analysis, intervention prescription and delivery analyses, setting up an intervention during a pandemic and training the workforce to deliver such an intervention.
