Project Details
Description
The University of Portsmouth (UoP) and the Mary Rose Trust (MRT) are currently exploring with Ancestry the possibility of using single nucleotide (SNP) microarray genotyping to explore the DNA of the crew from the Mary Rose. Understaing the ancestry of the crew of the Mary Rose provides an important snapshot of Tudour history. In particular, this project will explore whether this approach is suitable for direct analysis of ancient DNA (aDNA) samples, with potential future benefits for archeogenomics.
