Small Vessel Detection And Tracking

Project Details

Description

The focus of the project is to develop algorithms to detect, identify and analyse the behaviours of small vessels in coastal waters who may or may not be broadcasting their position through AIS. The first part focuses on detection and identification of these vessels, whilst the second part focuses on pattern of life analysis for a given area so that anomalous behaviour can be detected and flagged up.

Layperson's description

This project focuses on detecting small vessels such as fishing boats, pleasure and sailing craft within coastal waters using sensors such as cameras, radar and AIS. It uses complex machine learning algorithms to analyse this data to first detect and identify the vessels, before detecting any unusual behaviour.
