U-Pb Analysis of Calcite from Canadian Cordillera

    Project Details

    Description

This project is part of a long-running previous collaboration between Dawn Kellett (Geological Survey) and Catherine Mottram (UoP) focused on regional tectonics and mineralisation in the Yukon, Canada. This project aims to quantify the timing of regional fault movement by analysing carbonate slickenfibre and vein material from a series of regional faults collected from the Yukon. The University of Portsmouth will analyse carbonate from 10 samples previously collected on a Geological Survey of Canada funded fieldtrip (June 2018). The results will form part of a regional study focused on the faulting and uplift history of the region.
