Project Details
Description
Omission lies are deliberately not reporting information. This research project examines whether someone can decipher, from the truthful information an interviewee provides, that s/he is hiding something. A popular strategy amongst lie tellers is to keep their stories simple (Hartwig et al., 2007), which may become apparent in the truthful information they provide when omitting information. In three experiments we will examine the strategies lie tellers use when telling an omission lie and the verbal cues that are associated with these strategies.
