Ways of assisting with design

    Project Details

    Description

University led project to create a new computer aided design environment using intelligence that is distributed throughout advanced production machines was created. That directly led to the creation of a new smart workplace using intelligent task machines and new and innovative ways of designing using a knowledge-based design assistant. The design process was specifically demonstrated for a sealed lead acid vehicle battery charger.

    Key findings

Intelligence that is distributed throughout advanced production machines can be used feed into a computer aided design environment.

A new smart workplace can be created using intelligent task machines.

A knowledge-based design assistant for use within that environment was demonstrated.

The design process for a sealed lead acid vehicle battery charger was described as an example
