When translation meets technologies: Language service providers (LSPs) in the digital age

Project Details

Description

With the emergence of new digital tools (e.g. computer aided translation tools, statistical machine translation, crowdsourcing, social media), translation has become an increasingly complicated process, materialised in a virtual network of stakeholders. This exploratory project solicits the views of one crucial set of stakeholders, Language Service Providers (LSPs), to gain a consolidated picture about how the industry is dealing with change. In collaboration with ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting), the largest professional body in the UK, we aim to propose strategies to deal with these new developments and disseminate examples of good practice within the profession.
