Description
This was a 12-week accredited course delivered by the University of Portsmouth to members of staff of Victims First Jersey.
This short course was designed specifically for professionals working with victims of crime, providing an insight to:
- the difficulties and challenges experienced by people who become victims of crime, caused not only by the crime, but the complexities of the criminal justice process,
- the impact of victimisation and identifying who may be vulnerable and at risk of harm,
- the underpinning theories that inform our understanding of the processes of victimisation and influence the way we may respond to victims of crime,
- the commissioning of support services and a focus on partnership working,
- the development of victim-centered reforms and legislation which place greater responsibilities and accountability upon criminal justice professionals and their contact with victims.
This course was delivered online and included six 90 minute online seminars with the tutors.
