    Abstract

This is a summary of a Thesis which explores the concept of fear and security in urban space, through the way it is recorded in cinema. The Thesis focuses on horror films and aims to decode the mechanisms of the –sometimes intended sometimes not- allegory of these films in order to analyse contemporary fears and how they are engraved within urban space. Furthermore it makes references on the ways urban and architectural theory approaches films and the way film studies analyse the city.
