Students were invited to propose schemes that would enliven the appeal of the seafront and improve facilities at West Beach, Hayling Island, Havant. The brief was for a ‘water sports centre’ or ‘beach hut for the future’ both aimed to improve public facilities on the sea front and promote accessibility to the natural landscape.

West Beach, Hayling Island (PO11 0AS) is identified as significant to the future development of the Island’s seafront and the identity of Havant. It is included in the newly adopted local plan 2036.

The project was a collaboration between Havant Borough Council and Portsmouth School of Architecture.
