Abstract
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice centred at the University of Portsmouth, once was the Institute of Police and Criminological Studies back in 1998, when Ian McKenzie and Jenny Brown had a vision of a new Journal. The ‘new’ Journal aimed to embrace the science of policing across a multitude of disciplines and give the voice to those attempting to bridge the gap between academia and practice with cutting edge impactful research. In March that year Vol 1 edition 1 of IJPSM was published. I was an early in career researcher at that time, just starting my first lecturing job and was given the glorious opportunity of being the first Book Review Editor. Nearly a quarter of a century later it was time to bring the editorship back home. Within those 25 years the science of policing has moved on dramatically, with more disciplines joining the field and with the definition of policing broadening, thus the new Editorial team now represents this change and encapsulates the exciting ways the Journal aims to move forward for the next quarter of a century. The vision is to dynamically reflect the multi-disciplinarity of the ever-changing field, but to also embrace and stimulate interdisciplinarity and trans-disciplinarity. Each of the co-editors represent one of five key disciplines under the umbrella police science and management: (1) Psychology, (2) Forensic Science, (3) Technology, (4) Cybercrime, and (5) Global policing. The new Editorial Board has also been carefully gathered to consist of academics and practitioners across these areas to help realise this vision.
