    Abstract

    Initiating from the closing of the Ellinikon Airport in Athens in 2001 and the opening of the new international airport at the east of the greek capital, the chapter discusses how contemporary Greek Cinema interweaves with global, national and local changes in the greek city. Using a range of examples of Greek films, the chapter looks the contradictory urban narratives of tourism, cosmopolitanism and the "city of others", tracing the parallels between urban realities and fiction.
