    Abstract

This paper has two main aims. First, it seeks to outline the theory and applications of artifical neural networks (ANNs) as a tool within the economic analysis of transport and environmental problems. Secondly, it presents the findings of an appliaton of ANNs in the context of discerning the effect of aircraft noise on residential property values.
