Abstract

Be my (body) guest is a digitally enhanced circus piece by aerialist and PONToon project PhD student Carolyn Watt aka Twisted Nymph, produced by the XR Circus project. This performance considers contrasting audience perspectives of the female aerialist, exploring the notion of the gaze through the use of 360 technology, point of view video and projection. Be my (body) guest is inspired by Carolyn’s PONToon project PhD pilot study where participants were proud of what their body can achieve rather than how it looks and the idea of doing something for yourself rather than being watched. This piece offers juxtaposing views of the female aerialist. In this iteration of the piece the 360-degree video headset experience was available for spectators to experience.
