Abstract
The economic dimensions of globalisation are underpinned by comparative advantage. Arguably, however, discussion of this economic principle does not always place sufficient emphasis on the importance of transport in the determination of relative prices. This case study shows how containerised shipping has reduced transport costs and thereby facilitated globalisation.
