Abstract

The aim of this document is to provide guidance for Beyond Swim accredited venues wishing to either extend their regular open water swimming season or offer year-round swimming. It is designed to assist operators to develop appropriate operating plans to mitigate the additional risks posed by lower water temperatures. It is a practical guide that is shaped by the physiological response to cold water immersion, but which also considers the demands placed on the safety team and their ability to provide safe and effective supervision in colder conditions.
