    Abstract

The study of stress and anxiety in sport has been and continues to be a major area of research inquiry in sport psychology (Mellalieu et al., 2006, In Literature reviews in sport psychology, edited by S. Hanton & S. D. Mellalieu. Hauppauge, NY: Nova Science). The purpose of this symposium is to provide an update of recent developments in the areas of performers' experiences of competition and organizational stress in sport. The first presentation provides an overview of competition and organizational stress and discusses important conceptual issues and recent developments in the study of these areas including their definition and operation.
