Abstract
The article focuses on the library building at the University of Portsmouth, in Hampshire, England and its architectural design in relation to trends in 21st century academic circles. The development of the library since the 1970s is discussed, highlighting the inclusion of high profile architects on the projects. Several extensions being added to the building are also discussed, particularly the large central corridor called "the Street." The relationship between student attitudes and library architecture is also analyzed.
