Abstract

Self-consistent collisionless gas models are used to describe source-free peculiar velocity distributions for tracers of the Hubble flow in Friedman - Lemaitre - Robertson - Walker spacetime with flat spatial sections. This procedure is used to generalize the derivation of Soleng's cosmology and to generate two models which are more realistic. These have an advantage over dust models, which are a singular limit, in that here the pressure is never zero.
