Abstract

Bovine pancreatic polypeptide (bPP), a 36 residue peptide hormone with a stable folded structure in solution has been crystallized from aqueous solution in the presence of seed crystals derived from an ageing sample of commercial epoxy resin. X-ray analysis established these to be crystals of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA). The possibility of epitaxial or covalent nucleation is discussed.
