Abstract
Obesity is a major cause of mortality and morbidity in modern society. While bariatric surgery is becoming increasingly common as an evidence-based method of treating such patients, it is very invasive and associated with significant risk. There is a need for less invasive endoscopic measures to treat obesity, particularly in patients with comorbidities such as diabetes. Endobarrier is a novel endoscopic technique which can potentially improve metabolic abnormalities such as diabetes and induce weight loss in obese patients with diabetes.
