Abstract

The recent growth in women’s football investment in Europe has seen geopolitical influences in both origin of funds and shaping of regulations. European geopolitics have affected women’s football financial and commercial health both at national team and club levels, including England’s ban on women’s football from the 1920s, European Commission actions and policies, European influences on governing body strategies and sovereign wealth fund ownership in Europe.
