    Abstract

The development of wind power industry has a great influence on reducing the consumption of coal resources and the pollution to the environment. Under the circumstance of rapid economic development, using this kind of renewable clean energy has become increasingly significant. Operating in a tough environment, wind turbine systems may have various kinds of problems. The utilization of condition monitoring and fault diagnostic techniques can realize real-time monitoring of wind turbine systems to ensure the safety and stability of wind turbine operation and thus can reduce the cost in terms of both time and money. This paper introduces the possible faults during wind turbine operation with a particular focus on the gearbox part. As the core component of the wind power generation system, gearbox is of great significance to its stable operation. This paper also put forwards a fault diagnosis method of gearbox based on vibration signal obtained from a condition monitoring system and the method is evaluated and explained in a case study.
