Abstract

The synthesis and characterisation of three homologous series of polymeric materials is reported and the surface energies of film structures prepared from these are evaluated. Dependent upon the molecular design features of these materials, the initial surface energies of film structures were within the range 6-35mJm-2 but in many cases these were found to change over time due to the penetration of the surfaces by the liquids utilised for the contact angle measurements.
